Why You Should Work With Us:

Arizona College of Nursing is a rapidly growing, nursing school that transforms people’s lives by preparing them for careers in nursing and improving communities through the care its graduates provide.  As a leading nurse educator, Arizona College of Nursing offers students the opportunity to earn a bachelor’s in nursing in 3 years or less with qualified transfer credits. Our quality nursing curriculum prepares students for an in-demand career to help communities overcome the chronic, well-known, and increasing nursing shortage.  Through the execution of a targeted growth strategy, the college plans to meet the growing demand for nurses by launching campuses in markets where bachelor’s prepared nurses are needed.

Putting students first, we are dedicated to providing students with an exceptional education in growing healthcare fields; teaching them relevant, required skills for today and the future. Our culture is positive, supportive, and collaborative. As a team, we continually embrace our core values:

Passion: We love helping others succeed.

Excellence: We strive to be the best.

Adaptability: We learn, in part by trying new ideas.

Accountability: We own our results.

Integrity: We do the right thing.

What You'll Do:

The Vice President, Development and Construction is responsible for new campus builds, expansions, and all major projects for existing campuses. This includes selecting new buildings, overseeing design and construction, and managing scheduled refresh cycles (paint, flooring, furniture, signage). The role covers any project taking longer than a couple of weeks but does not include day-to-day maintenance requests or minor repairs. Reporting to the CIO, the VP leads a high-performing team and partners closely with senior leadership and external vendors to bring each campus vision to life.

Essential Responsibilities

Campus Development & Major Projects

  • Site Selection: Lead the process of identifying and evaluating potential campus locations, assessing feasibility, zoning, and alignment with growth strategy. Collaborate with the CFO, who owns lease negotiations, while playing an active role in site-related input and requirements.
  • Design & Build: Oversee design, construction, and expansion of campuses, ensuring adherence to College standards for finishes, layouts, technology, and student experience.
  • Refresh & Modernization: Implement and manage a planned refresh cycle for existing campuses (paint, flooring, furniture, signage) and lead all other major projects beyond day-to-day maintenance.
  • Growth Planning: Use enrollment and operational data to determine when campuses need to expand, ensuring facilities align with student demand and program growth.

Strategic & Team Leadership

  • Define and evolve the campus model, incorporating innovation in design, finishes, furniture, technology, and student experience.
  • Manage and develop a team responsible for delivering new builds, expansions, and major campus projects.
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment with Finance, Procurement, Academics, Operations, IT, and Branding to deliver campuses that are financially sound, operationally efficient, technologically equipped, and brand-consistent.

Vendor & Budget Management

  • Manage relationships with architects, contractors, designers, furniture vendors, and brokers.
  • Oversee budgets, forecasting, and cost control to deliver ROI-based project decisions.

Stakeholder & Regulatory Alignment

  • Ensure all projects comply with zoning, permitting, safety codes, and Board of Nursing requirements.
  • Represent the College in interactions with city officials, brokers, landlords, and contractors.

At Arizona College of Nursing, we believe in a collaborative approach where all colleagues work together towards our shared goals. It's important to note that this list doesn't cover everything you'll be asked to do or need to do. We value adaptability and flexibility as we grow and evolve as an organization.
