What You'll Do:

The Dental Lab Assistant supports student academic success by preparing, assisting, and resetting lab sessions under the supervision of the Program Director for Dental Assisting.

  • Prepare and organize lab materials, instruments, and supplies for student labs and practical sessions.
  • Set up, clean, and disinfect dental simulation units and equipment to ensure a safe and effective learning environment.
  • Assist instructors during lab classes by demonstrating procedures and offering guidance to students.
  • Support students in developing foundational clinical and lab skills, including impression-taking and tray setups.
  • Sterilize instruments and enforce proper infection control protocols.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage dental supplies and lab materials.
  • Ensure lab safety and compliance with OSHA standards and institutional regulations.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Must have:

  • Certificate or Diploma in Dental Assisting.
  • Working knowledge of dental materials, equipment and infection control protocols.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to support students in an encouraging and supportive manner.

 

Nice to have:

  • Prior experience in a dental office or clinical setting.
  • Teaching experience in secondary education.
  • CPR certification.
