What You'll Do:

The Practical Nursing Program Coordinator is directly responsible and accountable for ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives, ensuring program compliance with state and national Department of Education standards, and maintaining full institutional accreditation through the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). The Program Coordinator collaborates closely with the Nursing Program Director and the rest of the campus leadership team on policy making, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the campus’s activities and assists in ensuring that the College’s vision, mission, and values are foundational elements in guiding decision-making and actions.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Direct the success of the Practical Nursing program.
    • Oversee the organization, administration, development, and general effectiveness of the Practical Nursing
    • Manages relationships with clinical partners and monitors students, preceptors, and faculty at clinical sites on a regular basis.
    • Works with faculty, students, and staff to plan all ceremonies of the program.
    • Participates in College-wide committees and events to support the mission of the College.
    • Maintains a high standard for program quality, professionalism, and excellence in teaching and ensures that the College sets an example for appropriate professionalism, risk management, and safety in the field.
    • Documents actions taken in faculty and committee meetings using a systematic plan of evaluation for total program review.
    • Maintains professional competence/expertise in teaching through activities such as nursing practice, continuing education programs, conferences, workshops, seminars, academic courses, research projects and professional writing.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing team.
    • Recruit, hire, mentor and evaluate the performance of instructors.
    • Ensure instructors follow best practices and standard operating procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with standards for accredited programs of Registered Nursing as mandated by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
  • Enable students to achieve success.
    • Build professional relationships with students to ensure continuous feedback and promote students’ success.
    • Assist in resolving student and instructor issues and concerns in a professional and timely manner.
    • Advise students on attendance, grades, and discipline issues as necessary while adhering to the “Student Counseling” procedures.
    • Interact regularly with students in person and maintain regular, consistent, and predictable office hours.
  • Teach courses within the Practical Nursing program.
    • Participate in effective teaching method training and professional development activities related to the program field.
    • Teach up to three (3) classes per semester.
    • Administers and grades tests/projects, maintains grade books, tracks attendance, and performs other administrative duties as needed.

What We Need From You:

Faculty shall provide evidence of education and experience necessary to indicate that they are competent to teach a given course and develop and evaluate student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies within the framework of the controlling institution.

 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

Must have:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from an institution accredited by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) required.
  • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a professional registered nurse providing direct patient care.
  • Holds a current unencumbered state professional registered nurse license or enhanced compact nurse licensure relevant to the state of teaching location.

 

Nice to Have:

  • Master’s degree in nursing from an institution accredited by the U.S. Secretary of Education or the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • Previous experience teaching in a registered nursing program at a college or university.
  • Certified Nurse Educator certification and national certification in area of nursing specialty.
